This book, based purely on the skill of the writing inside, is pretty much exactly what a memoir needs to be.

Annika neither overly dramatizes nor politicizes these events but reports them objectively leaving the reader to digest them. We hear of the events that lead her to the lifestyle, and we hear of the lifestyle itself, in no uncertain terms. Sarai Emery lost her job as a radio disc jockey when a heated breakup with her wealthy drug dealer boyfriend was accidentally broadcast live.Well, everyone makes their choices in life, and there are always be positives and drawbacks in each choice.

I feel as though she should have been more forth right and kept her upbringing out of the book and sold it as more of a under world choice to make fast money in her life than to use her experiences as her security blanket. I am usually a slow leader and have 3 books on the go for a year, but I read Mattress Actress in 3 days - I absolutely could not put it down! With thoughts of dodging the repo-man, past due bills, an impending eviction, and a bill from the nursing home that cares for her Alzheimer’s-afflicted father fresh on her mind, Sarai feels she has no choice but to plunge into a world where the line that separates sex and money is blurred beyond recognition. I really enjoyed this book (I read the whole thing in a day and a half), it's well written, honest, and entertaining, making it very easy to read. Then Ruby meets Luke, and as her professional and personal lives begin to fuse she finds herself spinning out of control, living in a nightmare web of deceit, violence and fear.Unfortunately I didn't feel sympathy but rather apathy for the whole tale, which surprised me to be honest.
