About this deal

And it’s funny, cos a part of me is freaking out, but the bigger part of me feels calm, like I’ve been waiting for this for the past six months.

Author Guy Bass introduces SCRAP, about one robot who tried to protect the humans on his planet against an army of robots. Now the humans need his... Lance and his friends face the sporelings of Crater Lake but this time they have evolved. With fast paced action and good characterisation, this builds on what went before with the added dynamic of tensions amongst the friends due to transitioning to secondary school. I felt this worked really well, looking at the need to conform in a new school suddenly so much larger than their old primary school, the pressures that puts on old friendships and the need to be more tolerant and understanding. Ultimately they manage to deal with their issues becoming once more the team they need to be. There were also some genuinely creepy scenes here, Lance's mum climbing down the outside walls into his room being one. I really enjoyed this and it was just as good as the first book. Montmorency School’s Form Six students are fortunate to be the first school party to spend a few days at Crater Lake. Or are they?

There is something nasty lurking in Crater Lake and Lance and his friends soon learn that it feeds on youngsters like them. The winners of The Farshore Reading for Pleasure Teacher Awards 2023, highlighting the work schools are doing to encourage a love of reading, have... Aramark is an authorized concessioner of the National Park Service and is the primary concessioner in Crater Lake National Park. Crater Lake: Evolution is a thrilling, nail-biting sequel that I devoured. I thought Crater Lake was an amazing story but Evolution is even better! The action is fast-paced and there were times I found myself holding my breath as I wasn’t sure how the characters were going to get through. Chapter 13 is one of the most terrifying scenes I’ve read in a children’s book! I can’t spoil what happens but it sent chills down my spine. It is incredibly creepy but such fantastic writing, and it keeps you on the edge of your seat. It’s the sort of book that I guarantee would capture a whole class of Year 7/8 students because it’s so gripping. I really love this book because it mixes several genres together ; it has it's humorous side but it also is a little bit suspenseful and mysterious. It is also great because i can relate to some of it in places, for example a residential school trip!

I would recommend this book to multiple of my friends in and out of school and really enjoyed being able to read such a great book. The reason being it had me gripped and every sentence was leaving me hooked and I couldn't put it down. A group of friends are off for their end of Year 6 outward bounds residential. Apart from the usual issues like dealing with bullying and teachers that have it in for you, what can possibly go wrong? Things don’t start too well when their coach is stopped by a man covered with blood who is rambling about Bears in the woods. At the activity centre they are given a strange reception and fed only on warm soup but it’s when they go to bed that things take a turn for the worse. Lance and his friends have to stay awake because it’s when you sleep that danger strikes! Along with Karim, who's mum works at the University, Lance goes to investigate. A dangerous study subject has escaped but is that the danger or is there more to it? Lance is getting Crater Lake vibes and his suspicions might just be proved right.Crater Lake is a fast-paced, high action read full of suspense, scares, twists and turns. Alongside the action, there’s witty dialogue and a strong message about staying loyal to your friends and how to stand up for yourself against bullies, whether they’re mean kids, monstrous teachers – or even body-snatching aliens. Immensely enjoyable; light and dark perfectly balanced.
