About this deal

Been wondering about Danny’s progress on taking over the dream world, but I had one a while ago where I was Danny and was having a collab with a friend. I've had paintings bought, and designs on Christmas cards, which is brilliant - but this is very much on another level. When they could no longer act on stage, they focused on writing and illustrating their five children's books, which kept their imagination flowing. We have also worked on a collaborative 3D piece of work; creating flower and leaf studies from life and a vase image using inktense watercolour pencils.

The book itself is really good quality with large colourfully printed pages, I really like that at the start of the book there is a photo of Ian Parker painting with his mouth, alongside the author Victor Margiotta. I’d definitely recommend it for children aged 5-8 and it would be a great addition to a school library. A magical story about a young boy who dreams of being an Olympic champion, when one day a dramatic incident changes his life forever.

Fast Forward Instructional Texts are especially designed for teacher-led guided or shared reading sessions with less-able readers (either individuals or groups at the same level) and form the core of Fast Forward’s finely-levelled approach.

The advised age range is 3-8 but I'd probably start a little older having read it, and recommend it for age 5 and up, key stage 1 - it would be a lovely text to form a discussion about inclusivity and playground friendships, but we don't always need a topic or a theme to share stories, and this is a lovely story for anytime. It’s aimed at a slightly older age group than the books I would normally recommend on this blog (probably best for those aged 5+) – but I’m sharing it because Ivy was fascinated by the illustrations and the story behind them. Their illness did not prevent them from following their dreams, leading a productive life, finding love and influencing so many with their joyful spirit. The little boy struggles to accept that he must now spend his life in a wheelchair, until one day he discovers a ‘magic’ chair. In the News - a recent article in the Guardian about the lack of disabled characters in children's picture books - link here - well Danny's Dream goes a little way towards this, one more quality title including a disabled character.

Taking fresh flowers and herbs really enhanced the environment too as they all enjoyed touching and smelling the different scents.Artist Gail Hurst, has been working with participants at Danny’s Dream as part of our Creative Connections project developing creative social groups. Attending health appointments have previously been challenging but recently with the teams help they are going well Danny’s Dream and Christina have been a lifeline and I could not have picked a nicer bunch of people to support my son Danny’s Dream are doing a marvellous job with my son and he really enjoys going out with his PA’s. We all really enjoyed sharing this book together, the kids loved the characters and the illustrations and we all really loved the ending. But also it was great being in communal studio space and being able to develop my art practice along with other artists.

Written by Pat, the girls' voices are threaded throughout each chapter of In the Morning Light, using their own words taken from a documentary, a news program and their journals allowing them to tell their unique story of living and loving. I don’t want to give away too much about the story but I will say that the story gives an invaluable and uplifting message about never giving up on your dreams no matter what you are facing. This is a great story about the strength and determination it takes to achieve great things, made even more wonderful by the special illustrations. Because they’re unique to every user, proxy bidders will never reveal your maximum bid to anybody else. I've been drawing with my mouth ever since I can remember, any opportunity with pencil or pen on lined or plain paper for hours.
