During the development phase the designers focused primarily on the question of how they could make sure that the insulating layers remained dry and, consequently, effective enough for running outdoors in winter.

This year’s ISPO Award celebrations saw GORE® Wear claiming the “Product of the Year” title for its GORE® R5 GORE-TEX INFINIUM™ Insulated Jacket – the first of its kind in the world. My temperature was very comfortable, even on my arms, where under the sleeves of the Gino, my skin was exposed. While some materials will offer some wind resistance with a bit of chill seeping through, others will form an almost impenetrable barrier between you and the wind.

The transparent, 100% Nylon material allows you to see a race number or team kit through the jacket. The Infinium is a wonderful material, very soft, quiet and supple, durable and high quality with excellent breathability with no clammy feel and great moisture transfer. If you're after something casual that'll look good on or off the bike, then the Everyday jacket is well-made, partially windproof and breathable, and will fit the bill for all types of riding and other outdoor activities.

Transparent fabric on the outside with a GORE-TEX INFINIUM™ WINDSTOPPER® liner gives an eye-catching look, fluid feel and negates the need for a mid-layer. Newly alpha hybrid pant: now Arc'teryx puts up with the new Alpha hybrid that infinium can include gore pro. While there's no industry standard for measuring the wind resistance of fabric, one simple way to do this is to place your mouth on a garment and blow hard against it. Meanwhile, the elasticated sleeves block out any drafts and two pull cords mean you can opt for a relaxed hem, or to draw it tighter against the elements. They provide maximum comfort and protection for outdoor enthusiasts who enjoy hiking, trekking, snowboarding, skiing and other activities that involve contact with humidity.

Even sprints didn’t cause overheating, though on the flip side, the armpit panels definitely let you know when there’s a crosswind. Sam: The result in my testing is the highest performance in terms of breathability combined with wind resistance, most comfortable high output activities (run and nordic ski in our case but also likely cycling outer layers) fabric I have ever tested.
