Those of us who enjoy reading romance fiction find that we get set to experience the "Happily Ever After" most of the time, regardless of the time period or genre of the context.
Never mind all the love and kindness he has showered her during their 10 year marriage she is still pining and fantasizing about her 4 day love/lust affair with Patrick. Celine can be somewhat wishy-washy as she navigates her complex relationships with Mike and Patrick. He was so incredible in his love for Celine and the way he cared for not only her but everyone around him.Celine's dad is an aging Lothario who provides companionship for women in his own age range but whose roving eye never fails to draw him toward a beautiful, sexy woman. The story covers some big issues – especially substance abuse, addiction, loss/estrangement of family members – and does so thoughtfully and sensitively. This is a friends to lovers sort of romance that manages to be both funny and heart-warming all at the same time. Now, the question is, how do I talk about this story without giving away it's most important details and the ending? I really enjoyed the two main characters, Eleanor and Fin, and their individual stories/development.

The year 2023 has been such a roller-coaster that it was only in the last week I felt I could finally catch my breath. Romantic, hopeful and uplifting, I loved Last Time We Met and the gorgeous, emotional friendship at its heart. This book takes its readers through the life of Celine who runs a match-making business, The Love Market.Convinced it will always be this way they make a pact – to go to university together, always live near each other, and if they’re both single at 35 they’ll get married. Emily Houghton’s debut novel- Before I Saw You– was one I fell hopelessly in love with, and it still remains a favourite today.
Mike is a wonderful man who works so hard to be a good husband and father, a man who knows he is almost always emotionally on the outside looking in, who loves his family and never fails to "be there" whenever he is needed in a variety of scenarios.To be honest, I found the array of characters to be too much distraction as they didn’t seem to add much to the story. It takes tragic circumstances for Fin to come back into Eleanor’s life, but everything has changed since the last time they met. An emotionally rich, character-driven story with a brilliant cast, it inspires hope and promises new beginnings. To be honest, I don't think this book is truly a three-star book, but I don't want to give it two stars either, which would make it seem as if I disliked the book when in reality, I think I'm just more disappointed. The sister, who is not sure of her relationship, and the father, a lovesick, are very funny, and each one of them are very supportive.
