About this deal

The Samsung QN95A employs the Tizen-powered smart TV platform, and these days it gives LG’s webOS a run for its money in terms of user interface, responsiveness and functionality. There’s a launcher bar along the bottom and a second layer above that provides faster access to additional content. Navigation is a cinch, and there’s even voice control if you prefer. Bixby, Alexa and Google Assistant are all built into your Samsung Smart TV. Discover an optimal entertainment experience and advanced voice control in your connected smart home. Changing the volume, source, channel and more is as easy as asking. This TV also works with Smart Things devices (compatible phone and app required. Exact functionality may change at any time and be withdrawn from the product without notice). Samsung TVPlus

However, OTS+ doesn’t just involve more channels, it also analyses the audio signaland aligns sounds with the location of specific images on the screen. This really works, producing an engaging experience with improved directionality and immersion. In addition, the dedicated centre speakers ensure clear dialogue, and the subs add some pleasing low-end presence. From gloomy shadows to sun-scorched scenes – see the spectacular detail in every shot, exactly as you’re meant to. Thanks to leading HDR brightness, you'll see it in all true-to-life quality with rich colour and remarkable contrast. Plus, with HDR10+ every frame is optimised to perfection, so that every movie you watch looks just as the director intended. Bluetooth is a great feature for a smart TV, as it allows you to connect wireless audio devices; like speakers, headphones, hearing aids, or other peripheral devices like keyboards. Can I pair my phone to my smart TV? The QN94A is exclusive to the UK market, with Samsung offering three variants with similar specs (QN95A and QN90A). Intelligent modes adapt picture and audio by recognising the content playing as well as the environment around the TV. They include Adaptive Picture, Adaptive Sound+, Active Voice Amplifier and Adaptive Volume. You can toggle each one on/off in the settings, and out of the bunch I’d say Adaptive Sound+ is worth a go, but the others aren’t wholly necessary. In particular Adaptive Picture, which can either subtly change brightness and colours or drastically affect them.

We were worried about the future of Samsung's One Connect system, which sees all connections (and even power) routed through an external processing box that can be placed out of sight, but Samsung has in fact launched a new version of One Connect for 2021. The big news is that the new One Connect box is significantly smaller and slimmer than the one it replaces, to the extent that it can be attached to the rear of the stand if required. However, overall this is a superb new model, and successfully laid down the Mini LED gauntlet for the 2022 flagship, the Samsung QN95B. Read on for our full Samsung QN95A review. Samsung QN95A: availability and price Samsung offers a choice of Dynamic, Natural, Standard, Movie and Filmmaker picture modes. The latter two are the most accurate with little, if any, difference between them.Thankfully, Samsung does let you tweak the sound through an EQ if you leave it on the Standard sound mode, however that option will be disabled if you have AI Sound turned on. If you don’t want to use AI and you don’t want to fiddle with the EQ, you can use the Amplify setting to get an uplift in mids at low volumes, which does help alleviate some problems. The UK version of the QN90A is very similar to the QN94A and its US/Aus namesake, but it appears to have a lower peak brightness rating and loses the Ultra Wide Viewing Angle tech.

Smart TVs of all sizes will transform your viewing experience, but what size is right for you will depend on your living space. A 50-inch TV ( wall-mounted or not) will look best from a distance of around 2.5 – 3.5 metres. Any closer and you risk the image looking pixelated, further away and you’ll miss the details. Don’t worry if this means you have to consider a more compact 32-inch TV or larger 65-inch screen option – we’ve rounded up the best of those for you elsewhere. One of the reasons the QN90A is a bit more unstable this year is because it’s a bit thinner. Compared to last year, Samsung shaved about half an inch from the depth from the TV which has meant making some compromises on sound quality and stability. That’s not a bad thing if you plan on connecting the TV to an external sound system – like one of Samsung’s Dolby Atmos soundbars – and wall-mounting the TV, but it’s all worth noting. However, Samsung’s reticence to decode Dolby Atmos is even harder to understand because the company supports this audio format on its soundbars. While you can output Atmos over ARC, it would be great if the TV’s 4.2.2-channel system could take advantage of Atmos’s height channels. The only catch with the 50QN90A’s upscaling is that it can start to look too fizzy with very grainy sources. This slight harshness can be softened away by the noise reduction options, but this inevitably leads to softer, occasionally slightly processed-looking results. To reiterate this point, though, the fizzing problem only happens with unusually grainy sources. With relatively pristine HD images the 50QN90A’s upscaling is outstanding. Never miss a beat with minimized blur and enhanced motion clarity, and catch all the fast-moving action whether you're watching sports or taking advantage of newer Next-Gen gaming capabilities.

Information about the average amount of time, in which the pixels change from one color to another. There’s little to want in the way of smart control and connectivity compared to other manufacturers, though. Users get the choice of Bixby, Alexa or Google as their voice assistant on set-up and there are plenty of great utility apps, including Google Duo (for video calling) and Samsung Health, which boasts 3000-plus hours of health and mindfulness content. The issue with the 2020 models, where brightness of small objects was reduced, isn’t observed here; so the scene where Chris falls into the Sunken Place maintains the same, consistent brightness throughout. Samsung’s dimming algorithms aren’t quite as sophisticated with subtitles, with some words bright and others less so.

Get the finest picture ever with Color Volume 100%, Quantum Dot, which transforms light into breathtaking, stay-true color at any brightness. If you want to enjoy the best possible gaming experience on your Samsung TV by connecting to a gaming console like PlayStation or Xbox, you must tweak the picture settings. It doesn’t matter whether you own a LED (SUHD/UHD), QLED, or Neo QLED (4K/8K) from Samsung, you just need to enable Input Signal Plus and Game Mode. It's not at all clear at this stage how the AU8000 differs from the AU9000 above. We know that it features the same AirSlim design, and it appears to feature Motion Xcelerator Turbo and OTS Lite. It may just come down to the finish. We'll update when we get more information from Samsung.
