About this deal

Slide the tubing over the barbed end of the hose end fitting. If your hose has an additional piece of hose over the part that gets clamped (like mine did) put it on the tubing before you place the tubing over the threaded barbed fitting then slide the extra piece over the tube. This extra piece will help prevent accidental cutting of the tube when clamped. If your hose and valve connect through just threading, use Teflon. It will do its job just like in your shower when applying Teflon to the showerhead threading. Just go to your local hardware/DIY store and buy a rubber hose seal. These are, essentially, rubber gaskets that you snap into your hose connector. If you turn off the water to your hose, unscrew the leaking end, and look for a gasket/O-ring, you'll likely see it's worn out. Just replace it with one of your new ones, and you're all set! Best practice for this type of hose is to use a wire clamp for the smallest profile. See related article for several versions of a wire clamp forming tool.

Next, there is the fabric covering that is unique in the design of an expandable hose. This can be made of all sorts of fabric materials but is generally a sort of durable polyester. There are multiple different designs that include the fabric just being bunched up around the inner hose to allow it to stretch as far as the maximum stretching point is. Another newer design is made so the fabric is a little bit stauncher and is coiled around the inner tubing and the coils themselves will stretch out. Even though the fabric should be durable, be sure to watch out for tearing or splitting of the fabric as it helps to protect the important inner layer. If the fabric tears, it won’t immediately cause a leak but will indicate a weak spot on the hose to watch out for during future uses. Latex Interior The Ansio expandable hose comes with a 9 spray setting spray gun offering you decent versatility. There are lighter sprays for watering plants and bathing the dog, and more focused jets for cleaning off harder surfaces.

Question: I need an expandable hose for watering my allotment. The distance from the tap to plot is 100ft . Ideally I need a hose that extends to 150ft. Can one join two expandable hoses together? Garden hose repair kits often come with a few standard parts. They'll come with a replacement gasket or two (small rubber O-rings), a threaded adaptor that slides into the hose, some screws, and a clamp. Expandable hoses are made from latex instead of rubber and operate differently. A rubber hose repair kit won't work here.) Cut the crimp holding the tubing in place from the hose end fitting. I used a file on the ferrule on a high point until the file went through. Insert the threaded replacement end from your hose kit in the cut end - push it in as far as possible. (You may need to muscle this into place.)

The plastic used in the gun’s construction is strong and sturdy and I got the impression it would last a while as long as it isn’t dropped or mishandled in some way. There is some soft rubber coating for comfort and ribbed sections for extra grip. The big downside to this set of connectors is that they are slightly more expensive, because of the materials that are used to make them, than the other plastic options listed below. They are also mostly used for fixing nozzle ends and not for splicing in. This makes them a little less versatile than other products might be. GardeningWill Expanding Hose Female/Male Repair Kit Breakdown and Pros: Unlike standard duct tape, Gorilla Tape is designed to be both waterproof and incredibly strong. This makes it a great (again, short-term) answer to a leaking garden hose. This product does not come with any sort of instructions or pictures on how to make this work for you. However, they are reportedly relatively simple to use and there are plenty of DIY-ers online that have made instructions and videos to show you how to make your own repair easily. SPEQUIZ Garden Expandable Hose Repair Kit Breakdown and Pros: This is a great bit of kit to service awkward spots in the garden. I use these to get to the hard to reach spots, and the last ten metres of my garden by connecting it to a standard hose. This has served me pretty well and I am far more happy with the weight of this product and ease of movement than a conventional hose. It allows so much more comfort and therefore less energy required to get the watering sorted! If you’re not at full strength you will super appreciate this piece of watering kit.First thing, thank you for the comment. Yes, you are right at 13 steps it is rather long. But when I put this together I used a hypothetical situation where you are alone and the steps give you the best chance for success with little or no problems while executing the procedure. In this article we are going to take a detailed look at one family of products in particular and the supplies that are made to accompany them. We are going to talk about expandable hoses, how to care for them, review several of the best repair kits that are currently on the market for them, give a couple of great options you can look for when trying to buy a good one that will help you avoid ever needing to fix them, as well as some of the best practices for ways to increase the longevity of the hoses themselves. Breakdown of an Expandable Hose and Areas to Care For Otherwise, you can clean (yes, clean!) the threading of your garden hose with a wet rag. Use a bit of white vinegar for tough bits that won't come out, rinse it, and test the connection again. Not only is duct tape not made for watertight seals, but there are better options out there. As mentioned above, use electrical tape or specialized rubber hose repair tape. What Is the Best Tape to Repair a Garden Hose? In this short buyers guide we will highlight a few things to look for in a good expandable hose and also a few tips on how to get the most life out of them. It’s usually better to pay a little more than to end up paying twice.

Using electrical tape on a pinhole leak in your hose is an excellent short-term solution to the leak. While it won't permanently solve the leak, and you'll absolutely need to regularly replace the tape, it can and will work wonders while you finish up whatever you're doing. How Do You Seal Garden Hose Threads? As I mentioned above in the testing section, you can see this will expand miles but 12 metres was very comfortable, and what’s the point of pushing it? The hose itself folds down into such a small space I hardly see any need to over extend myself, not when there are 22 and 30 m options on the table as well. In short, you absolutely can use Teflon tape on your garden hose, but you'll need to inspect your particular connectors to ensure it won't cause harm. How Do I Stop My Garden Hose from Leaking? Using the barbed connectors, wrap PTFE tape around the threading (yes, it’s okay with expandable hoses) and then tighten the barbed connectors. I'll get you the answers as fast as possible, I just need patience on your part and a teeny bit of belief. Can You Use Teflon Tape on a Garden Hose?

This product is a very simple version made from plastic and sold by the same manufacturer as our top choice is. SPEQUIX Garden Expandable Hose Repair Kit The first thing you’re going to notice is just how nice the hose feels in your hand. You could be mistaken for thinking it’s a cloth like material! And it get’s better. When you compare it directly to it’s main competitors the Ansio and the FIT, this is definitely equal in quality; the brass hose connectors, quality kink free hose, and all the accessories you need to get going such as half inch reducers for smaller garden taps. Note, most taps are 3/4 these days but again it’s a nice touch. There are a few issues though, but before we get going let’s have a look at my short video setting this up and getting it going / using it: Slide the cover over the tubing and secure both pieces to the fitting with a wire clamp. This type of clamp is so low profile that it will allow the original threaded fitting part and the matching threaded collar to be reinstalled easily. Your repair will look just like the original factory hose connection.
