About this deal

Regardless of our life situation, God is always present to hear our joys and sorrows and accomplishments and failures.

Have you ever considered that you have immediate access to the most powerful Person in the universe? Pray for the reconnoitre being undertaken by Simon, Chris, Chenda and Simone to Rukungiri in mid October to finalise the programme, plans, and arrangements for the trip from 28 October to 11 November. So how can we waive our reluctance and make the effort to pray aloud? Here are a few simple bullets to get you started: After 8 years and thousands of conversations with our audience on prayer, I’ve learned the biggest struggles plaguing our prayer lives–feeling unsure of how to do it “right” and trying to figure out how to do it in a busy world. Holy Spirit, you who was sent to us to be our helper, I pray that you help me to trust in you at all times. May I have confidence in your plan for my life, and follow where you lead me. Guide and direct my life so that I can be an example of what trusting in God does in our lives. I know you will hear me, oh Lord, and answer my prayer. Amen. In October 2021, my legacy book on prayer, Pray Confidently and Consistently releases. It’s the practical book that I truly believe could transform the dull and distant prayer life into vibrant and intimate.

Remember that Jesus is praying too. In corporate prayer, we have the assurance of Christ’s presence (Matthew 18:20) and the promise of his intercession (Hebrews 7:25). A Christian never — never! — prays alone. When we pray confidently, we’ll see our spiritual lives change for the better. Anxiety will decrease, and peace will increase, in our lives. “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” ( Philippians 4:6-7). As someone who has a prayer journal company and literally wants to write out her thoughts, Valerie says she can completely understand the temptation to drill through a list when praying. However, she says that scripture is a great place to get beyond the prayer list. Any scripture can be made into a prayer – it can be a prayer of rejoicing, a prayer of repentance, a prayer of action. If we pull out our Bibles, we will surely pray for things that we wouldn’t if we were just praying from a list. Ephesians 3:12, NLT Because of Christ and our faith in him, we can now come boldly and confidently into God’s presence. Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words. And he who searches hearts knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God. – Romans 8:26-27I pray that our conversation with Valerie today helps you to want to take a fresh look at your prayer life and decide to pray confidently and more consistently. If you take nothing else from this guide, take this one advice. Tell God your struggles with prayer and ask him for help. Get on your knees and take your struggles to the master himself, he will recognize your earnest desire and help you through the process. And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he hears us: Strong's 2192: To have, hold, possess. Including an alternate form scheo skheh'-o; a primary verb; to hold. God’s Word to us promises that there is authority in our prayers. They get things moving. They get results. Our prayer is the fuse and He is the dynamite. To pray confidently, we must believe that God lovingly listens when we pray, God is on our side and wants to help us, and that there is Power in Prayer. Instead, I have the privilege of praying aloud while my brothers and sisters stand with me, praying the same thing in their hearts. Not only do you have the ear of the greatest Person in the universe, but has it ever occurred to you, as you kneel in your place of prayer, that you have been given the privilege of being used of God to help change the lives of individuals and nations. God has literally made available to you His vast reservoir of power, wisdom, love and grace, if only you are willing to believe him, to trust and obey Him. One of the scriptures that came alive to me at that time of my life was Ephesians 3:12, which says, “In whom we have boldness and access with confidence by the faith of him.” The words “in whom” tell us that our confidence is not based on ourselves, but on our relationship with Jesus Christ. And when you really know that you are in Christ, there is no longer a need to be sheepish about asking for what God has already promised you in His Word. Ephesians 3:12 tells us that we can come to God with boldness and confidence!

Sticky Note Prayers

I will tell you why!” I respond. “It’s because you are fasting to please yourselves. Even while you fast, you keep oppressing your workers. What good is fasting when you keep on fighting and quarreling? This kind of fasting will never get you anywhere with me. You humble yourselves by going through the motions of penance, bowing your heads like reeds bending in the wind. You dress in burlap and cover yourselves with ashes. Is this what you call fasting? Do you really think this will please the Lord?” When we aren’t praying, we’re forfeiting the rich life God has for us right now. Not a life that is rich because of everything that comes our way but because of how different it can be when we go through life with God.

This is the boldness which we have toward him, that, if we ask anything according to his will, he listens to us.

What Valerie really wants us to know is that God wants a relationship with us. The fact that we get to have a relationship with the creator of the universe is so incredible. She wonders, “Why would we want to miss out on that? He is gracious, and He doesn’t expect us to come to Him perfectly. We can just start praying, and we can be honest with God. He knows our hearts, and He loves us.” [42:13] Starting fresh in your relationship with the Lord Valerie points out that we often feel like we should be able to do this easily and without help. She encourages us, however, to think about tools we can use and how we can set boundaries on our time. Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” – Matthew 11:28-30 Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not. Dear Lord, there are negative things that have been said about me and my confidence and self-image are shattered. I know that only you can judge me. Only you know what my true intentions are. I pray that you help me rebuild my confidence in myself. Protect me from being affected by unkind or hurtful comments. I belong only to you, oh Lord. Protect my heart. Amen.
