Try to keep hair products and straightening/curling irons to a minimum: I know this is easier said than done but it really does help and it generally means you don’t need to wash your hair so frequently. Use warm water to rinse the colour out of your hair. It’s important to rinse away from your face and body, rather than just hop into the shower – rainbow skin is not a popular trend. When you are happy with the results of the stand test, you can proceed to dye your hair. Step 3 - Dye Application

All the colours can be mixed together: which means you’re not limited by what you see on the chart. I mixed apricot and tangerine together to achieve the orange I desired (pictured below). Make sure to wash your hair with a pH balanced Pre Colour Shampoo prior to colouring your hair to leave it in the best condition to take on your colour of choice. Simply then leave towel dried, so that it is still damp.

Step 3 - Dye Application

Once you have the art of blending down, then take a leaf out of our stylist's book. Using Turquoise at the roots, then melting into a mix of Spring Green with Fluorescent Green. Make sure to make the mix before applying! If that is still not enough colour, then add a touch of Lavender using a face-frame placement like our stylist. Feeling adventurous? I remember years ago finding the idea of bleaching my whole head the scariest thing ever…as you can see I changed my mind. But you don’t have to dye your whole head; for years I just had the bottom half of my head dyed and a little slice under my fringe (it was really cool when I wore it in an updo http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Updo). Style it as you wish to really make the colour pop how you want it to, however please note that using heat on your hair will affect the longevity of Directions. Tips

If you want a lighter shade or tone, try mixing Directions Hair Dye with White Toner or Colour Care Conditioner Treat your hair colour and the dye as though they are two paint colours you are going to mix together: e.g. Lagoon Blue on hair which is still a brassy colour will go greener then on the chart because you are mixing blue and yellow together. There are so many ways to mix up your palette, but knowing where to start can be a little overwhelming. Do you go for a careful composition of shades that naturally complement each other, or rebel against the colour wheel with a clash of light, dark, bright and bold? You don’t need to shampoo after you’ve rinsed the dye out: but I find a tiny bit loosens the little extra bit of dye which would only end up on your pillow if you didn’t do this.
