About this deal

What is the FR of your Dali Sub? You need to ensure it can really have the crossover point needed for the Mins. Also, placing the sub as close to the speakers will help greatly in blending with the sub for a seamless sound. One of my Subs, a Velodyne only has a upper FR of 135Hz but as it is next to the speaker, it blends great. Right now, I have a 10" Cambridge Audio Aero 9 (used to also have the 10" X500), a 10" XTZ 99W10.16 & a Velodyne SPL-800 Ultra - this one only goes up to 135Hz but works in my situation due to it being a small room & the sub is placed right next to the speakers. This should give you an idea of the types of subs to use/get. I do not use all three - it was just part of my quest to find the best suited subwoofer for the Minx Speakers!! With Denon/Marantz av-receiver you also get the room correction (XT32) for speakers/sub, bass management, lot of cool features which may come handy. You can start with 2.1 and then add center channel later. Some people will go in-ceiling surrounds if not possible other way. Av-receiver would keep things open for future. You can still add 2ch integrated amp later if needed. SUB E-9F er bestykket med en helt nyudviklet 9” low-loss long-stroke basenhed med membran i ren aluminium. Dette materiale er valgt på grund af sin lave vægt og store stivhed, som sætter membranen i stand til at følge selv de mindste impulser i signalet uden forvrængning. Resultatet er en usædvanlig præcis og dynamisk lyd, som klæder både musik og filmlyd. Don't worry about not having a high pass filter. This isn't home theater where you're focus is on LFE. You're listening to music. I run a similar setup, wired the same way, using a 10" JL Audio subwoofer with Apogee Diva full range ribbon speakers.

Thank you both. This may sound a bit stupid, but I kinda assumed that if I go with a proper AV receiver I wouldn’t have to worry about amps/etc. Prices valid in stores (all including VAT) until close of business on 28th November 2023. (Some of these web prices are cheaper than in-store, so please mention that you've seen these offers online.) It will pay dividends to really experiment with the crossover settings to get the best blend so to speak but I found that in most cases 150hz usually provides the best results - 140Hz at the very lowest - any lower & the sub can be localised. Play around with the crossover till you get the best sound.Equipped with both LFE and line inputs, the Dali E9F allows for easy integration within your AV system and delivers both power and accuracy for a dynamic home cinema experience. Adhering to the low-loss sound design principle, the surround of the woofer is built to allow long and linear excursion. The oversized suspension is designed to allow both weak and strong transients to turn into undistorted acoustic signals. The SUB E-9 features a 9” woofer, capable of moving lots of air with power and precision. The cone is made from pure aluminum for maximum stiffness and a becoming exterior. Furthermore, the heavy magnet system wields a massive 4-layer, long-stroke voice coil. Fitted with controls for gain, cut-off frequency, and phase, the DALI SUB E-9 F will adapt to any front speaker and room acoustics. I'm considering changing the AVR next to something with a better DSP that can output at 4k with HDR. Does anyone know if this will make much difference to the sound performance of my 5.1 system at all?

I’ve read some of the same thread over on AVF, and I’m not going to answer it there as I want to say there’s a lot of BS being banded around by people who have no idea what they’re talking about. I prefer tight bass and don't like overpowering bass, I tend to go with flat headphones (HD598) rather than than v-shaped ones (beats, etc.). I am not sure how relevant the headphone analogy is though Regarding your Dali Sub - I thought it might be an issue as I remember looking at the 10" or 12" version of your sub to match my Mins but discounted it as it only goes up to 120Hz. Although your AVR may give the correct setting to use, if your sub cannot go that high then you will most definitely have a "Hole" or "Gap" in the sound & I am afraid to tell you you most certainly will. I strongly urge you to change your sub if you wish to really bring about the best sound & balance from your system. Appearing to hover above the floor, the cabinet is effectively decoupled from the floor by means of four polymer-based oversized spikes. The distance of 30 mm eliminates any potential turbulence from the space between the cabinet and the floor itself.

I have read that the Dali's tend to be bright so a warm recevier Marantz (6013/6014?)would be a a better fit, but dont know how the Maratnz would be compared to the 3600 (there is a good deal at the momnet on the 3600s). Would you recommend swapping out the recevier? All DALI subwoofers are compatible with almost any amplifier, receiver or processor due to the choice of LFE or LINE inputs. Congrats on the Min's - they really are great for their size & a lifestyle speaker - the BMR drivers offer a wide dispersion unlike nearly all other drivers. The launch of the DALI SUB E-9 F marks a new stage of what is possible at this level of subwoofers! The SUB E-9 features a 9” woofer, capable of moving lots of air with power and precision. The cone is made from pure aluminum for maximum stiffness and a becoming exterior.
