These combined function pieces of equipment provide a height-adjustable platform with sides which can be raised and lowered. With the sides lowered they can be used as a drying or changing platform, raised they can be used for showering and with the sides in the highest position they can function as a shallow bath. Not all of our products are eligible for VAT relief, so we are obliged to charge VAT for those products even after you complete this form. If a person can no longer access their current bathing facilities or use equipment to enable access, whether it is a bath, or a shower cubicle with a high step etc, I would recommend they had a level access shower. This will meet the need long term.

If more able, you may choose to use the bath board and seat to move down, step by step, into the bath. The board and seat can then be removed by a carer, to allow you to stretch out in the bath. Significant effort is required to reverse the process to get out of the bath. Part of the rail can be fixed at an angle of 13 degrees upwards towards the head end of the bath to provide an inclined support. An over bath shower is often not fitted by local authorities. The reason for this is that you would still need to access the bath to use the shower, and equipment can be provided for this rather than fitting a shower. However, an over bath shower is sometimes fitted. This could be because the bath is too short to take equipment and a person. The adjustable width Swivel Bather can be easily adjusted to fit a wide range of bathtubs. Each arm of the base frame can be independently adjusted by simply turning the grey handles. The adjustable width allows the seat to be set closer to the open side of the bath, making transfers in and out of the bathtub easier. The mechanism is also built with non-slip rubber ends on the base for additional stability and support. Turning Seat Improves Bathtub Safety Often, people will ask for a walk in bath. As an OT, I do not recommend this. My reasons for this are:Manual bath lifts are operated hydraulically, using the weight of the person to lower the lift and the buoyancy of the water to help to raise the lift. Model Options

The bath has to be empty before you enter it and then filled when you close the door. When exiting, the water needs to be drained before you open the door. This filling and drainage causes a delay during which you may become chilled, so consider keeping the bathroom well heated during use.

Baths are available which incorporate an integral swivel seat that lifts you up, over and down into the bath. The seat may include a leg raising mechanism to lift your feet over the bath rim. Most have a moulded seat, limiting your ability to recline. The seating unit has a plastic seat which is easy to clean and drainage holes sized for safety. The base frame has plastic ends and positioning screws to prevent movement.These baths have a door in the side or front that you can step through to walk into/out of the bath. Although there are no high sides to negotiate, there is a low step beneath the door. Full length baths with a door are available, but will then require you to be able to sit down/get up from the bottom of the Image of a walk-in bath Bath boards may not fit baths with irregular shaped sides, corner tiling etc. If this is a problem then a wall-mounted bath board may be an option. The horizontal rail can be used in combination with a bath board. The user may benefit from holding the rail while they sit on the board, then turn and lift their legs in/out of the bath.
